How not to mess up your seismic spring mount installation

When installing seismic spring mounts there are a few common mistakes that we see in the field, but the most problematic is installing the mount out of alignment with the equipment. When the mounts are not aligned perfectly the top of the seismic mount will move over to accommodate and put pressure on the small elastomeric snubber piece that separates the spring mount from the housing. A small amount of force pushing against the rubber will allow vibrations to travel through the housing and into the structure undoing all of the time and effort it took to install the spring mounts in the first place.
